Pre-Kindergarten Program Alpharetta | Oak Grove Academy
The years between three and five hold so much possibility. Your child is becoming someone new each day, asking bigger questions, forming real friendships, and developing a sense of who they are in the world. It is both thrilling and tender to witness, and it is only natural to wonder how to nurture this growth while preparing them for the kindergarten transition ahead.
Will my child be ready? Will they feel confident walking into a new classroom? Will they have the skills they need and, just as importantly, the belief in themselves to use them?
These questions keep so many parents up at night, and we understand how much they matter. Our Pre-K program at Oak Grove Academy helps children ages 3 to 5 build the foundation they need, not just academically, but emotionally and socially, to enter kindergarten feeling capable, curious, and excited to learn.

About Our Alpharetta Pre K Programs
Will your child receive the preparation they need for kindergarten success? Will they develop confidence alongside skills? Will someone notice their quiet strengths and celebrate their victories Parents in Alpharetta face these questions before their child sets off to kindergarten. It matters deeply that children feel confident in their ability to learn and comfortable interacting with other students. Our Pre-K program helps children build these foundations throughout the year with patience, warmth, and genuine care.
For 20 years, families have trusted Oak Grove Academy because we see this work as the meaningful responsibility it is. Providing your child with the education and preparation they need to move forward with confidence is not just what we do. It is who we are. Our program serves children through two classes that build on each other: Pre-K 3 for children ages 3 to 4, and Pre-K 4 for children ages 4 to 5. Each classroom offers experiences matched to where your child is developmentally, meeting them exactly where they are while gently encouraging growth.
From Age 3 to Age 5: Pre K Development Support For Every Stage
Children ages 3 to 5 experience remarkable growth, and it can feel like you are watching a new person emerge before your eyes. Our program supports each stage of this journey, honoring your child's unique timeline while building the skills and confidence they need for kindergarten.
Children in Pre-K 3 are just beginning to discover what they can do, and that discovery is one of the most beautiful things to witness. They engage with learning centers for dramatic play, art, blocks, science, math, and literacy, building skills at their own pace.
Fine motor skills develop through art and puzzles. Gross motor skills advance through outdoor play and movement. Early literacy emerges through stories, songs, and warm conversation as children begin recognizing letters, patterns, and sounds. Daily routines create security while free exploration encourages curiosity. By year's end, children have developed confidence and skills that prepare them beautifully for Pre-K 4.
Pre-K 4 (Ages 4 to 5 Years)
Children in Pre-K 4 build on everything they learned the year before. This is often the year when growth feels most visible, and parents tell us they are amazed by what their child can do.
Writing practice refines fine motor skills. Physical activities build coordination and strength. Children begin reading simple texts, writing words, and exploring math, science, and problem-solving with growing sophistication. They learn to manage time, complete tasks independently, and practice empathy with peers. By the end of Pre-K 4, children transition to kindergarten as enthusiastic, prepared learners with strong foundations and belief in themselves.

Every staff member took the time to get to know my child. my child's class teachers also go above and beyond for whatever each child needs to the best of their ability. The staff always seems very caring and you can see that they want the children to have positive experience's at their school. I am happy that they had an opening for my child. I will be sad when she starts first grade as she will not be here anymore.
