Curriculum Focus

Our STREAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Reading and Writing, Engineering, Arts and Math) builds critical thinking skills, communication abilities, collaboration, and creativity. We focus on developing the whole child, preparing them not just academically but emotionally and socially for what lies ahead.

Daily Routine

Your child's day flows through structured lessons, hands-on projects, group activities, outdoor play, and time for rest. Each moment supports social skills, physical growth, and intellectual development through engaging experiences that feel like discovery, not drill.

Classroom Experience

Small class sizes and an exceptional student-teacher ratio mean your child receives individual attention in bright, spacious classrooms designed for both focused learning and creative exploration. Here, your child will be truly known.

About Our Kindergarten Program

Will my child be ready for first grade? Can they handle the transition from play-based learning to more structured school? Will they feel confident, or will they struggle? You are not alone in asking these questions. Every parent wants to know their child will move forward with excitement, not fear. Our Alpharetta kindergarten goes beyond state readiness requirements, building language, reading, writing, and math skills that give children a strong foundation. Oak Grove Academy students typically meet many state kindergarten requirements as early as Pre-K3, arriving in kindergarten already equipped to learn at a deeper level. But we care about more than academics. Over 20 years, we have watched children leave our program prepared not just intellectually but emotionally and socially for the challenges and joys ahead. They leave knowing how to be good friends, how to approach problems with curiosity, and how to believe in themselves.

From Ages 5 to 6: Holistic Development Support For Every Stage

These kindergarten years shape how your child sees school, learning, and themselves. The experiences they have now become the foundation for how they approach challenges, relationships, and new ideas for years to come. We take that responsibility seriously and hold it with care.

Academic Excellence Through STREAM Learning

Your child explores science through hands-on experiments, builds with engineering challenges, writes stories that matter to them, and discovers math through real-world problems. Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity guide everything we teach. When children have meaningful choices in real-world projects, they feel more capable, engaged, and confident as learners. You will see it in the way your child talks about school, excited to share what they built, discovered, or figured out.

Language and Literacy Development

Children learn to read with confidence, moving from letter recognition to full sentences. They write their own stories, share ideas clearly, and build vocabulary that prepares them for elementary school. Our curriculum emphasizes strong language abilities because early literacy skills predict long-term academic success. Children who attend early education programs are less likely to repeat a grade, less likely to be identified as having special needs, more prepared academically for later grades, and more likely to graduate from high school.

Mathematical Thinking

Numbers become tools, not mysteries. Your child learns addition, subtraction, patterns, measurement, and problem-solving through games, projects, and daily activities. They develop number sense that makes first-grade math feel natural, not overwhelming. Math becomes something to explore and enjoy when children understand the why behind the numbers, not just the how.

Social and Emotional Growth

Kindergarten teaches children how to be part of a community. They practice taking turns, working through disagreements, supporting classmates, and managing big feelings. Teachers create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and heard. These social skills matter just as much as reading and math. Your child learns not just academic content, but how to be a kind friend, a fair collaborator, and a caring member of their world.

Physical Activity and Motor Skills

Daily outdoor play, structured movement activities, and hands-on projects keep bodies active and growing. Children develop coordination, strength, and spatial awareness through games, art projects, and exploration. There is something special about watching children run, climb, and move with growing confidence in their own bodies, reaching their milestones at their own pace. Physical development supports everything else they are learning.

Creative Expression and Arts

Art, music, dramatic play, and creative projects give children space to imagine, experiment, and express themselves. Process-based activities let them make choices, solve problems, and build confidence through creation. Creativity is not separate from academics. It is woven through everything, helping children approach all kinds of challenges with flexibility and joy.

Independence and Self-Reliance

Our teachers guide children toward independence, helping them manage materials, follow routines, solve problems, and take ownership of their learning. By the end of kindergarten, your child will approach challenges with confidence rather than hesitation. There is profound satisfaction in watching a child realize they are capable of more than they thought. That realization changes how they approach everything.

Every staff member took the time to get to know my child. my child's class teachers also go above and beyond for whatever each child needs to the best of their ability. The staff always seems very caring and you can see that they want the children to have positive experience's at their school. I am happy that they had an opening for my child. I will be sad when she starts first grade as she will not be here anymore.
